Studies have shown that a few cups of coffee, usually no more than four, can deliver a good dose of caffeine. More than four cups has too much and can have adverse effects such as shaking and an upset stomach. But with the right amount, which is about 400mg, you will feel alert and awake. This alert feeling you experience from caffeine is due to the effect it has on our central nervous system. Caffeine helps prevent adenosine, which is what makes you tired or sleepy. Also, getting enough sleep can help you immensely so you won’t have to rely on caffeine to get you through the day.

Coffee-lovers can rejoice because the appropriate amount of caffeine and coffee (mentioned earlier) can add some good health benefits to your body. In addition to increasing your energy, coffee delivers a lot of antioxidants, which help your body fight off illnesses and keep you healthy. Coffee has also been known to help aid in depression and lift the symptoms associated with it, along with possibly decreasing the risk of Type 2 diabetes, and can protect your liver against cirrhosis.
Coffee Can Help You Mentally and Physically
Not only does coffee increase your brain activity and function, but it may also help stimulate you physically. Student life can be exhausting, and trying to balance work, school, and exercise can be a struggle. Caffeine in coffee helps promote the burning of fat. Many athletes and gym-goers drink a cup or two before hitting the gym to help burn fat and to help wake them up so they can perform well in the gym or their sport.
Coffee Additions Matter
Coffee can deliver some excellent benefits to you. However, what you put in your coffee does matter. Lots of sugar, creamer, and artificial flavorings or ingredients severely limit the benefits this drink can give you. Try healthier alternatives such as coconut or soy milk, and try to limit the sugar. Poor quality coffee can also have limited benefits. Organic or well-known and well-reviewed brands are good or try using a French press for an amazing and flavorful taste. You can use beans or grounds, but many prefer grinding whole beans because of the added freshness.
Coffee Helps You Survive
As a student, it is tempting to replace every drink with coffee in order to get through the day. Keep in mind this can affect you negatively. Too much caffeine can cause insomnia, anxiety, nausea, and nervousness. Limit your intake to the recommended 400mg of caffeine per day, or about four cups of coffee. If you drink too much, your body will let you know. As a student you need the recommended amount to help stimulate your mind and body. Reading and writing and retaining information can be aided by coffee, but only in moderation.
During and after class, your performance can be enhanced by the use of coffee. It stimulates both mind and body, increasing your motivation, keeping you awake, and therefore allowing you to retain the information you need for school.
