We are living in the era of informational noise simply because everyone is trying to make their own contribution and share, with people around, things they find interesting. This is the reason why most important events get lost in hundreds of reposts and twisted facts. Unfortunately this is not the point of this article, but if you’d like to discuss let’s do it somewhere else.

The fact that there are so many informational resources and blogs is just astonishing – this is because technologies reached the level of complexity when even a child can figure things out. But still not everyone manages to create a blog from the first shot. Trust me this is a matter of experience, practice makes perfect, you know it.

Unfortunately people who can share with the world some useful and valuable information are not great at design tricks; mostly those are people of an old school. I’d like to help them build their blog or website where they could share their knowledge and experience and finally teach those greenhorns.

If you haven’t yet done anything of this kind before, this activity may seem quite difficult for you. I assure you that there is nothing difficult in creating WordPress website. Actually the whole process can be divided into five parts:
1. Make a domain name;
2. Get a hosting;
3. Choose a platform for your website (in this case WordPress);
4. Choose a framework + child theme;
5. Make some customizations.

Domain Name + Hosting

As for the first two points, the most trustworthy hoster is GoDaddy, the cPanel is really intuitive (if you managed to sort out with Facebook, than figuring out within GoDaddy will never be a problem for you.) When you register you’ll be offered to get a free domain name, if you already have one you can skip this step.

What to do if you don’t have a domain name?
When choosing the name for your site, you should not make a problem out of it: don’t make it too long, such names are hard for remembering and look really “awkward”. Make it as short as its possible, example: if you’re going to start a news portal for ‘businessmen’ a perfect domain name would be news4.biz rather short and straight to the point.

Platform

Let’s get to the next point – platform. Since now and on WordPress installation is a 5 minute activity, most of this time is wasted on loading files. So, you need to set an FTP connection with your hosting account (all details will be provided inside) and upload the files you’ve downloaded here. Previously you need to unpack the archive and rename file wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php

Let’s get one step back, in your cPanel you need to create a database (more detailed info you will get there) it will be used by the content management system to store all your posts (articles), web pages and visitors\’ comments.

Let’s continue, after you’ve created the database and uploaded WordPress filed to your website’s folder in your hosting account, time to install WordPress. All you need to do is to open this file www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/install.php and fill in the blanks you will be offered. It takes just a few seconds, after that open your site URL and you will see the Sample Default Page saying that your site is under construction, don’t be scared by that page, just move the file index.html out of your website’s folder somewhere else (just in case, don’t delete it).

Framework + Child Theme

Now we need to get to the most important thing in our list that’s the framework. Just google the phrase WordPress frameworks and you’ll get tons of reviews and frameworks to use. As always they are all devided into two groups free and paid. Further we’d like to point out two examples one of them will cost you money another one can be downloaded for no cost at all.

Genesis Framework

This is considered to be the best of the paid website frameworks on the design market, if you’re going to create website with its help it will cost you $60 more.

So, what will you get by installing Genesis? It’s installed as easily as any WordPress theme, just unpack the archive in a folder wp-content/themes and click in the admin to install, then you need to install a child theme that is actually a skin of your future website, when you purchase Genesis you will get a test theme “Genesis Sample”. If your website’s desing is not that critical for you can use this standard theme.

After you’ve installed Genesis in your WordPress admin panel there will appear an item with the same name \”Genesis\” with a number pull-down submenus with multiple settings of your theme.

• The first point Theme Settings – these are the main themes display settings.
• Followed by the SEO Settings – this setting CEO of your blog.
• Import/Export your settings to a different website.

Cherry Framework

Now let’s proceed with another example, i.e. the best of the free website frameworks – Cherry Framework. This is an in-house development of TemplateMonster development team.

The main thing of this framework is a StudioPress account there you will get installation and customization tips that are described to the slightest detail.

The motto of the company is delivering the best templates on the NET that’s why making a free website framework was a matter of honor.

As for the installation it’s the same as with Genesis just upload all files into wp-content/themes and hit activate in your Appearance/Themes section.

After installation in the sidebar of your WordPress admin there will appear a menu item – Cherry Options there you can set up the basics options of your website, all parameters are pretty intuitive, that’s why, you will experience no difficulties tuning your Cherry-powered website.

As with the previous example Cherry framework requires a child theme – installation is the same as in Genesis, you can have a look at Cherry themes here.

• 100+ options are integrated into the framework. With their help you can adjust theme’s appearance, typography, logo, or navigation. Intuitively fine-tune slider, blog pages, portfolio, and page footer so that everything is in style you prefer.
• Apply unique post types for testimonials, team info posts, services and other posts that will stand alone from blog posts. Every page of your website can be created with its consummate and unique style. Choose from a list of post formats, individually designed for every single alternative and use case.

• For ease of embedding media and other content, you can use 80+ comfy shortcodes for post output, grids, elements, lists, tabs, video and audio, Google Map, and much more. All shortcodes have the entire set of options available in a dialogue box.

Customization

This is the last step before you can present your website to the publicity. Don’t forget to change your website’s name and logo, this is really important in terms of your resource’s personalization. Next important things are your Contacts and About page. You need to post information there in the most clear and precise manner, don’t forget to mention you social media accounts, if you’re using any.
