Beyond Zero Emissions in partnership with the University of Melbourne Energy Research Institute.

The Zero Carbon Australia 2020 Stationary Energy Plan is an extraordinary achievement. An innovative collaboration of top researchers from around Australia and the world has produced a credible and pragmatic roadmap to a new, sustainable energy system in Australia. It has the power to shift the climate change debate to focus on solutions and actions. The response from media, the community and politicians show that it is already having this effect.

The research is a game changer, the first showing in detail how a 100% renewable energy transition is achievable using commercially available technology. It shows that implementing the proposed infrastructure in ten years is well within the capability of Australia\’s existing industrial and economic capacity.

The Plan was coordinated by Beyond Zero Emissions, a non-profit, independent, climate change solutions research group. What makes the end result all the more remarkable is that it was produced with minimal financial support.

The research was conducted by a team of engineers and scientists, many with direct experience in the energy sector, contributing thousands of hours of pro bono work. Researchers came from The University of Melbourne, Monash University, Oxford University, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, University of Sydney amongst others.
