This is a four-year degree course that is recognised by both the primary and kindergarten industry bodies and provides the
necessary qualifications to be recognised as a teacher in these settings.

The degree provides graduates with a sound understanding of children’s learning and growth across a diverse cultural spectrum; access to traditional and contemporary knowledge on teaching and learning in the early years and builds important critical thinking and teaching skills necessary to work effectively and equitably with children and other professionals within early years education.

Graduates will experience placement in a range of early years settings including children’s services, funded kindergarten settings and primary schools and are out in placement in the first few weeks of the first semester. Through the focus on contemporary subject content and extensive placement experiences, graduates will be both industry ready and theoretically prepared for the diverse situations in which they may work.

This course provides the skills, qualifications and industry recognition as a qualified teacher to teach children from birth through to the age of 8 in children’s service kindergarten and/or primary school.

Entry Requirements:
General: successful completion of studies equivalent to Australian Year 12 education or relevant employment experience.
English language proficiency to attain an Academic IELTS overall band score of 7.0.

Specific:
• standard in mathematics equivalent to satisfactory completion of VCE Units 1 and 2 mathematics (Australian Year 11)
• must obtain a Victorian Working with Children Check (to be completed in Australia upon arrival)
• participation in an interview (via Skype or telephone for international students applying from overseas or interstate) to assess personal attributes suitable for teaching
• completion of an essay task on the day of the interview.
