Gain advanced skills in interior decoration, and develop your creativity with a particular focus on commercial interiors. This course is the second year of a two-year Interior design and decoration program that builds on the knowledge and skills attained through the Certificate IV in Interior Decoration, with a particular focus on commercial interiors.

You will be required to attend the new Green Skills Centre of Excellence at the Epping campus for some of your studies.

Learn to perform tasks such as how to:

  • negotiate a design
  • create 3D digital images
  • design interior lighting
  • use CAD applications.

Other areas of study include:

  • recommend applied finishes
  • working with soft furnishings
  • site evaluation for design brief.

Training is delivered with leading edge technology, industry guest speakers, field projects and industry visits. The course has a focus on developing employability skills and producing “job ready” graduates.

The field of interior design offers diverse and lucrative career opportunities for those with a creative bent and an interest in design in the built environment.

Entry Requirements:

Satisfactory completion of VCE, Year 12 or mature age with evidence of ability to meet the demands of the course. Students seeking entry to the course should have a demonstrated interest in the vocational area and demonstrated ability in artistic disciplines (drawing for example). Applicants are required to attend an initial interview and a folio is preferred. IELTS 5.5 or higher (or recognised equivalent). Mature Age students are encouraged to apply.
