Hydrating after a workout at Washington State University’s Student Recreation Center has new meaning with the addition of an environmentally friendly on-the-go beverage kiosk.

EcoWell, an idea developed at WSU, gives patrons the option to purchase juices and natural supplements while using their own reusable containers. As part of the Crimson Revolution, University Recreation’s effort on ways to be more sustainable, EcoWell provides healthier options and reduces waste. Additionally, a touchscreen system allows users to personalize their favorite drink choice. There are numerous flavors that allow for thousands of different drink combinations.

Following in the footstep of ten other locations, including Lincoln Middle School in Pullman, the SRC is home of the eleventh EcoWell Station in the nation. EcoWell developed thanks to the creative innovation of a two WSU students who wanted to combat the problem of 500 million plastic bottles and cans wasted each day in the United States.

This temporary installment of the EcoWell will be available at the Student Recreation Center through June 2011.
