The focus of this degree is on the design and redesign of buildings, urban systems, public places, transport nodes, and recreation and conservation areas. There is an emphasis on design for tropical/ subtropical climates, relevant to the local region as well as to South-East Asia; design that embodies sustainability principles.
Design and creative problem solving are integral to the program. You’ll learn to think and write critically and analytically, and to apply this knowledge in achieving social equity, economic viability and environmental responsibility in your design solutions.
These design solutions will be concerned equally with aesthetic quality, functional appropriateness and the needs of users now and in the future. This program combines academic studies and fieldwork with an emphasis on studio learning and practical sustainable outcomes. As part of your third year, you’ll undertake a supervised off-campus industry-based design project.
