Top 6 apps that can make tax filing a breeze

A decade ago, one of Apple’s many successful campaigns capitalized on the slogan, “There’s an app for that.” That saying is still as relevant as ever because there’s, in fact, an app for everything you need to do, right down to filing your taxes.

Here are 6 apps of the best ones.

1. Expensify

Expensify is an excellent expense tracking app. It’s particularly handy for business owners who make considerable expenses weekly. The app allows you to focus on your day-to-day activities without worrying about tax reports.

Expensify has nifty features, like a SmartScan that automatically inputs your receipt information and a ‘reimburse feature’ for settling employees. The app is available on iOS and Android, with free and paid plans.

2. Shoeboxed

Shoeboxed has won multiple awards and accolades, including being featured on Forbes. The app is most notorious for making receipt recording and tracking the easiest it has ever been. The OCR feature lets you snap the receipts, and the app does the rest.

Shoeboxed can also archive receipts from your Gmail, send expense reports, and integrate with other essential software like Evernote and Quickbooks. The plans range from $29 to $49.95 monthly.

3. QuickBooks

Anybody familiar with accounting for tax purposes or otherwise must have heard of QuickBooks. It’s one of the most efficient ways to track your finances, capable of doing everything from managing your payroll, to sending invoices and generating reports.

You can also link QuickBooks to your bank and other payment platforms like PayPal, download transactions automatically, process reports, and record your bills and expenses. Sadly, there’s no free version as plans start at $10 per month. However, there’s a 30-day free trial.

4. Wave

Wave is most suited for freelancers, contractors, and small business owners. But then, it does more than just file tax. With Wave, you can monitor your reports, generate invoices, process payments, and much more, all for free!

Wave also has a payroll tax calculator and a receipt scanning feature. The platform offers an above-free payment option that charges you per payment processed. Wave is available for both iOS and Android users.

5. Mint

The name suggests crisp and desirable dollar bills, and Mint delivers service on par with that! It can help you track your expenses, manage your accounts, and customize reports. Mint is known for being easy to use, intuitive, and highly customizable.

However, one of its most used features is the budget manager. You can connect the app to your accounts, track your expenses, and stick to your budget. Mint is available on iOS and Android stores for free.

6. Taxfyle

Taxfyle is an incredible tool that almost automates your tax filing. We say almost because the app requires some input from you or your employees. Taxfyle app is free to use, but you pay according to your tax information — it’s quite impossible to know how much it will cost until you sign up.

Taxfyle can prepare all kinds of business forms and is ideal for freelancers and home business owners. Unfortunately, it’s only available on iOS. You can also learn more about other excellent accounting software on the Taxfyle blog:  https://taxfyle.com/blog/best-tax-software
