You’ll gain the skills to analyse and implement the latest practice in management of communication in both international and Australian contexts. You’ll examine the purposes and means by which leaders, organisations and interest groups create, coordinate and direct strategic communication – and the role of the media in these processes.

This course gives you the flexibility to pursue your passion. You can choose to complete the course in one year by undertaking three units in each semester and the third core unit in the Summer Term.

Entry requirements

Four-year Bachelor’s degree or three-year Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of relevant workplace experience OR three-year Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of graduate study in a relevant discipline.

Alternatively, a minimum of ten years’ work experience in the media and communication sectors or in a professional capacity, or a minimum of five years’ work experience in a managerial role, together with evidence of ability to carry out research for and/or write professional reports, together with an individual aptitude assessment set by the Academic Chair in consultation with the Student Learning Centre.

English proficiency

Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate competency in the English language. This requirement can be met by achieving the following scores in one of the following English language proficiency tests:
IELTS 6.0 (no individual band less than 6.0)
TOEFL (paper based) 550 (with the Test of Written English 5)
TOEFL (internet based) 80 (no band less than 20)
Murdoch Institute of Technology English for Academic Purposes (EAP) 60%
Bachelor degree completed in the English medium A Bachelor degree completed entirely in the English medium and evidenced with a letter from the applicant\’s University, stating that the degree was completed entirely in the English medium
