Up to 82 scholarships will be on offer to undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in business programs, with some scholarships worth over $20,000 each.

Pro Vice Chancellor (Business) Professor Michael Powell said up to 30 new academic excellence scholarships, worth $15,000, each would be on offer in 2011 to high achieving candidates starting a program offered by Griffith Business School.

“There’s also five scholarships for Indigenous students beginning their study and scholarships for students studying their honours year,” Professor Powell said.

“We’ve increased the number of scholarships available for 2011 to ensure that the best students are recognised for their talent and hard work, and to also ensure students facing economic hardship can be supported in their studies,” he said.

The highest valued scholarship is the Sir Samuel Griffith Scholarship which offers students $20,100 in cash over the course of their degree.

AGL Energy Ltd has generously provided two scholarships valued at $9000 each to support honours students writing a thesis on an energy topic such as carbon trading.
